FOCA Condemns Killing of American Hostage Paul Johnson

Releases Open Letter to Family Expressing Condolences, June 19, 2004

Washington, DC: The Friends of Charities Association (FOCA) is a group composed of leading faith-based charities providing humanitarian relief work all over the world. On this tragic occasion, we have released an open letter to the family of Paul Johnson, Jr.

FOCA is dedicated to promoting transparency in faith-based charitable giving through its Transparency Campaign and unequivocally denounces and condemns the killing of Mr. Paul Johnson. We are disgusted by this wicked act and extend a hand of compassion and understanding to the family of Paul Johnson and all families of victims of terrorism.

The Open Letter reads as follows:

To the family and friends of Mr. Paul Johnson:

We extend our deepest sorrow regarding the killing of Mr. Paul Johnson. No words can describe our sorrow and disgust.

God tells us, "Whoseover killeth a human being for than other manslaughter or corruption in earth, it shall be as if he had killed all humanity, and whoso saveth the life of one human being, it shall be as if he had saved the life of all humanity." (The Qur'an 5:32)

We, FOCA, as Saudis, Muslims-indeed human beings-denounce and condemn his murder.

Sincerely,

Members of FOCA
