FOCA Condemns Attacks in Saudi Arabia Welcomes Statements by Government, Scholars, June 16, 2004Washington, DC: The Friends of Charities Association (FOCA), a group composed of leading faith-based charities providing humanitarian relief work all over the world, unequivocally and in the strongest language condemns the kidnapping and murder threat against Mr. Paul Johnson and the recent attacks on Westerners and foreign workers in Saudi Arabia. FOCA reiterates that this and similar acts have no religious sanction and no cause can justify such actions. The government, religious establishment, and peoples of Saudi Arabia are in unison in their denunciation of this kidnapping. FOCA reiterates its belief that the actions of a few should never be used to judge the majority, be that majority 275 million Americans or one billion plus Muslims. FOCA, its members motivated by compassion for human suffering, expresses its deepest sympathies to the family of Paul Johnson and for the family members of the victims of the recent murderous attacks in Khobar and Riyadh. FOCA renews its call for continued dialogue between all concerned parties, at all levels, governmental and NGO, to work toward ending this continuing cycle of violence and its underlying causes. |
